This Copper Repoussé Experience gives you the chance to try your hand at this traditional and highly decorative metalworking technique in a real working forge.
Perfect for creative minds, this two-day experience invites you to explore the ancient craft of repoussé and chasing, which is shaping and decorating flat sheets of copper using specialist tools and techniques. Led by award-winning blacksmith Will Holland FWCB, you’ll be working in a relaxed and inspiring forge setting, learning how to create raised patterns and forms in copper.
Over the course of the two days, you’ll be introduced to all the core processes, from using lead blocks, hot pitch and sandbags to shaping your metal with a wide variety of tools. Whether you’re a total beginner or have some forging experience, you’ll receive expert one-to-one tuition to help bring your ideas to life.
Each session is kept to small numbers, meaning everyone gets the time and support they need to build confidence and develop their skills. Will’s professional but friendly teaching style makes this a relaxed and rewarding experience for anyone aged 16 and over.
All tools, materials, and safety gear are provided, so you can simply turn up and focus on getting creative. You’ll even take home your own handcrafted copper piece, a unique reminder of your time in the forge.
