Step into a day packed with adventure, excitement, and unforgettable memories with the 3 Activity Day with Lunch for 2. Designed for anyone aged 10 and over, this experience is ideal for beginners and those looking for a fun challenge alike.
The day is guided by a friendly, highly-qualified instructor, ensuring safety and support throughout. With small groups and expert guidance, every participant can take on the activities at their own pace, knowing that help is always close at hand. All the personal safety and comfort equipment is provided, including harnesses, helmets, and weather-appropriate clothing, keeping you warm, secure, and comfortable from start to finish.
The adventure includes three thrilling activities, each offering its own unique challenges. Begin with the Via Ferrata High Ropes Course, where participants can scale rock faces, navigate tricky bridges, and enjoy breathtaking views from above. For those who prefer to take things slower, instructors offer support and guidance, making it accessible for all confidence levels.
Next up is abseiling, where participants can descend cliffs safely and enjoy the thrill of height in a secure environment. Expert instructors provide hands-on guidance, allowing you to focus on the excitement while mastering each step. For anyone feeling nervous, participation is completely optional, and reassurance is always available.
The day continues with a gorge walk, a fantastic way to explore the natural beauty of the landscape while engaging in mild physical activity. Jumping, wading, and scrambling through the gorge, participants experience nature up close and learn some essential techniques for safely navigating rocky and watery terrain.
A delicious lunch for two is included to refuel energy and enjoy a well-deserved break midway through the day. Take a moment to relax, share stories, and soak up the stunning surroundings before heading back into the action.
As an added bonus, participants receive free entry to the Gorge and Caves Visitor Attraction, offering the chance to explore the area further and make the day even more memorable. This is a full day experience, lasting approximately six hours, giving plenty of time to enjoy all the activities at a comfortable pace.

This is a shared 6 hour experience, group sizes are usually up to 12 people.Â
Lunch is provided at the How Stean Café and includes Lunch includes a jacket potato, cheese and salad.
In the event of bad weather, one of the activities may not be possible. Activities may be supplemented for another option if this happens, or you will get to do more of one of the remaining activities.

All activities and facilities are onsite at the How Stean Activity Centre, so there is no need to travel between activities or walk long distances to reach a venue.

Available daily: Session time will run from 9:30am - 4:30pm. Please arrive at How Stean Gorge no later than 9am.

The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.

How fit do I need to be?
You will need to have a basic fitness level to participate in this activity, these sessions are classed as beginner level.

Can I take the whole family?
Anybody aged 10 or over can take part. It is suitable from 10 to 70+ years (children must be accompanied by an adult).
Those who do not take part can watch from the bridge or glass-floored café.
What happens on the day?
You will have a briefing with one of the instructors and then get changed into your outdoor gear.
After the briefing, you’ll be trained to tackle one of only three Via Ferrata in the UK: That’s a high-ropes style climbing adventure course that criss-crosses the gorge and passes right under the glass-floored café.
Escaping the Gorge through Tom Taylor’s cave gets you back to the Adventure Base for a quick change into super-thick wetsuits. Then it’s time to abseil 14 metres from the bridge to the rushing waters beneath our Via Ferrata.
To finish, you get to explore How Stean Beck: Fossil hunting, climbing and sliding down waterfalls, jumping into deep pools, swimming in fast currents, and more. You’ll also see sections of the Site of Special Scientific Interest that are otherwise inaccessible even for enthusiasts!
What do I need to bring?
For the Via Ferrata please wear comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting dirty and trainers. You will be brushing the gorge walls during the activity so get ready to get dirty. Please bring along a waterproof coat and trousers just in case of rain.
For the abseil and gorge walking you will need a swimming costume or trunks/shorts to wear underneath the wetsuit. It is recommended to wear trainers or boots but don’t forget to bring dry footwear for when you have finished!
All safety equipment for the activities is supplied on the day.
You are welcome to use the hot showers and changing area afterwards so don’t forget a towel.Â
