In this taster pottery class, you’ll learn the fundamental techniques of throwing clay on a potter’s wheel, guided by a skilled artisan who will help you every step of the way. Whether you’re completely new to pottery or looking for a relaxing creative outlet, this experience offers the perfect introduction to the world of ceramics.
You’ll have the choice between a 1 hour or 2 hour pottery workshop, allowing you to customise the experience to suit your schedule. In both sessions, you’ll create one beautiful piece. For those opting for the 2 hour session, you’ll have more time to refine your skills and choose to craft either a cup, bowl, or small plate*.
Throughout the workshop, the tactile experience of shaping clay offers more than just creativity, it’s a deeply therapeutic process that helps focus your mind, reduce stress, and promote mindfulness. It’s the perfect opportunity to relax, disconnect from the outside world, and immerse yourself in something rewarding.
*Finished pieces are not included in this voucher. Firing and glazing will be an additional cost.

If participants wish to keep their work, the additional costs are:
£6 per piece with a transparent, food-safe glaze
£12 per piece for coloured glaze or a return glazing session
Finished pieces will be ready for collection up to 6 weeks after your workshop, once they've been fired and are complete.
Pieces that aren't collected after 2 months will be donated.
Please Note: Due to chemical reactions and other unpredictable factors during firings, glazes might come out differently to our glaze tests and Work(s) might break or crack during firing due to air bubbles in the material and/or the uneven surface. Any unsatisfactory works due to these causes are non-refundable.

The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.

What should participants wear to a pottery class?
For anyone attending a pottery class, it’s recommended to dress comfortably in clothing that allows easy movement and can handle a bit of clay. Aprons will be provided to help keep outfits cleaner during the session.
Is it necessary to bring anything to the class?
Participants only need to bring themselves and a willingness to get creative. All tools, materials, and equipment required for the pottery session will be provided on-site.

Yes, there is free parking available at the nearby Asda, just a short walk from the Ealing pottery studio.
