This Introduction to Pottery Experience is the perfect starting point for anyone curious about ceramics, offering a relaxed, hands on pottery beginners’ session guided by expert potters every step of the way.
Set in a welcoming pottery studio, this 1.5 hour workshop is designed to gently introduce you to the fundamentals of wheel throwing. On arrival, you’ll be warmly welcomed and given a short, clear demonstration that breaks the process down, from centring the clay to shaping and finishing. Everything is explained in a way that’s accessible and enjoyable, so no prior experience is needed.
You’ll share a potter’s wheel with a partner, giving you two opportunities each to create your own clay pieces, such as a bowl or vase.Â
Throughout the class, expert potters are on hand to offer encouragement, tips and gentle corrections, helping you build confidence while enjoying the natural rhythm of the wheel.Â
Afterward, you can choose from three different options:
Option 1: The environmentally friendly option - you can choose to recycle your attempts, so your clay can be enjoyed again and again by future participants.
Option 2: Select your favourite piece to take home, where you can leave it to air-dry and paint to your heart's content.
Option 3: For an additional fee per item, your masterpiece can be fired and glazed.Â
If you opt for this choice, your creation will undergo two firing processes. Keep in mind that it will need adequate drying time before entering the kiln.
If you decide to go for the glazing option, expect a follow-up call about a month after your pottery class experience to arrange collection or delivery (a small fee applies) of your finished masterpiece, which you can treasure for years to come.

Introduction to Pottery Classes are available to book most Fridays and 1-3 Saturdays a month.
Please allow 1.5hrs for your visit.
The 'fire and glaze' option takes around a month to be finished and is an additional cost of £25 per pot, collection or delivery (p & p is £5) will then be arranged with you directly.
You can also choose to take your pot home with you and air-dry the clay.
Apron and towel hire bundle £5 per person.
Your voucher is valid for 12 Months from the date of issue.
Please note you must have booked and taken your experience before the expiry date.
The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.
A cancellation indemnity, subject to terms, is included with every voucher.
