The Experience

This experience brings together two of the capital’s most iconic royal attractions, The Household Cavalry Museum and The Royal Mews, finished off with a Champagne Afternoon Tea for Two at the elegant Clermont Charing Cross.

Your day out in London includes a visit to The Household Cavalry Museum, a living museum tucked inside the historic Horse Guards on Whitehall. Dating back to 1750, it’s still the headquarters of the Household Division, where troopers have carried out the Queen’s Life Guard ceremony for more than 350 years. Through a glazed partition, you can actually watch troopers working with the horses in the original 18th-century stables. Interactive displays, compelling personal stories, and rare objects bring the experience to life, offering a genuine behind-the-scenes look at the ceremonial and armoured reconnaissance role of HM The King’s Mounted Bodyguard.

Then it’s on to The Royal Mews at Buckingham Palace, one of the finest working stables in the world. This is where the royals’ road travel is brought to life, from the elegant Windsor Greys and Cleveland Bays to the glittering collection of historic coaches. You’ll see the Diamond Jubilee State Coach, the Australian State Coach (complete with central heating!), and the show-stopping Gold State Coach, used at every coronation since 1821. It’s a rare chance to discover the craftsmanship, tradition, and sheer spectacle behind royal pageantry.

After all that grandeur, it'll be time to unwind at The Clermont Charing Cross with a beautifully presented afternoon tea for two. Think delicate sandwiches, freshly baked scones with clotted cream, irresistible pastries and your choice of premium teas, topped off with a chilled glass of Champagne.

Afternoon Tea - Sample Menu - subject to seasonal changes
