Do you love getting up close and personal with your favourite furry friends? In that case it’s time to step inside the world of one of nature’s most curious and charismatic creatures! This unforgettable Meerkat Experience at Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World gives you the chance to get closer than ever before in a fun, hands-on animal encounter.
Based in Shropshire, this popular meerkat zoo experience is available for groups of 2, 4 or 6 people and lasts approximately one hour. Throughout the session, you’ll be welcomed by experienced zoo keepers who will guide you safely into the meerkats’ environment and share fascinating insights into their behaviour, diet and social structure.
The highlight? Hand-feeding the meerkats yourself. Watch as they scamper over excitedly to take their favourite treats*. With keepers on hand throughout, you can ask questions, learn more about conservation efforts and understand what makes these animals so unique.
Your experience also includes full admission to Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World, allowing you to explore the rest of the zoo before or after your session. From exotic animals to the impressive Hoo-Rassic World dinosaur attraction, there’s plenty to enjoy during your visit.
Perfect for animal lovers, families, couples or anyone searching for a meaningful and memorable wildlife experience, this unique meerkat experience is a much-loved favourite. It’s engaging, educational and packed with personality, just like the meerkats themselves.
*Whilst the meerkats are very friendly and often choose to climb onto participants, these interactions cannot be guaranteed and are entirely dependent on the animals' behaviour and welfare.
The welfare of the animals is of utmost importance and we are privileged to get so close to them. They will not be forced to do anything against their nature and all interaction is done on their terms.
The experience is one hour long and will be taken in groups of 4-6.

Absolutely loved our entire time at Whoozoo.
All the animals were fascinating but meercats along with the people who care for them were just a joy to be with.
Was treated to this as a family gift and my kids loved it. The meerkats were so sweet and having the chance to stroke them and feed them was incredible. A great thing to do with kids and the rest of Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World are worth visiting too.
Was so fun to get to know the meerkats, pet them and feed them. They jumped up on my lap like a small cat or dog. So cute!
After a 2 hour drive we were able have breakfast at a garden centre before entering the zoo. It was more of a wildlife park and the animals were well hidden inside their sleeping quarters because it was so hot. The Meerkat experience was enjoyable, although the staff member that introduced the experience seemed bored and spoke so quickly we didn’t understand what to expect. The guide we then had was very knowledgeable and the contact with the Meerkats very rewarding.
