The 60 minute experience begins behind the scenes at the world’s longest operational hovercraft service. Pilots and crew share fascinating insights into how these extraordinary craft glide effortlessly across both land and water. The main thrill is an exclusive 20 minute demonstration flight, showcasing the hovercraft’s incredible manoeuvrability. Expect agile turns, thrilling 360 degree spins, and a completely different experience from the standard route, a rare opportunity to witness the craft’s unique capabilities in action.
Guests also enjoy a guided tour around the hovercraft, plenty of photo opportunities onboard and outside, and a dedicated pilot Q&A session. The day concludes with a certificate to commemorate a truly extraordinary adventure.
This experience lasts approximately 60 minutes: 20 minutes demonstration with 40 minutes pilot Q&A.
Passengers should arrive at least 10 minutes before their intended crossing. Customers must be at the boarding gate 5 minutes before departure time to ensure travel on that crossing.

Where does the Ryde hover experience go from?
Ryde Hoverport is part of Ryde Transport Interchange where you can easily connect to Ryde Esplanade Railway Station (for onward connections on the Island Line rail to Shanklin) and Ryde Bus station for Southern Vectis bus services all around the Island.
Is the return date on my ticket flexible?
This voucher covers a Day return - You must return the same day you travel over on a day return ticket, if you need to return at a later date, please upgrade your ticket a period return via Hovertravel call centre. The difference in fare will be charge.
What time do I need to arrive at the terminal?
Passengers should arrive at least 10 minutes before their intended crossing. Customers must be at the boarding gate 5 minutes before departure time to ensure travel on that crossing.
How long does the crossing take?
The service takes approximately 10 minutes.
Is there anything I can not take on the hovercraft?
The items listed below can be extremely dangerous on a hovercraft. Carrying these may be an offence and may result in prosecution. If you are unsure of any item you are carrying please speak to a member of staff beforehand.
Banned devices include: E-scooter, e-unicycle, e-skateboard, hoverboard, e-motorbike, & modified/'home made' e-bicycles.
Is your craft wheelchair accessible?
Yes, the hovercraft are wheelchair accessible via a boarding ramp. Please note only 1 wheelchair can be accommodated per crossing, therefore customers must advise this at the point of booking.
Please note the hovercraft cannot carry large motorised scooters. The wheelchair user will be asked to stay in the wheelchair for the duration of the journey.
Do you allow dogs and is there any extra charge?
Yes, dogs may travel with you but must be kept on a lead and must not travel on the passenger seats of the craft. There is no extra fare for dogs. Please note that there will be a penalty fare if the dog fouls on the craft, pad or terminal.Â
