No prior blacksmithing experience? No problem! This course is designed with beginners in mind, offering a fun and engaging way to get stuck in. You’ll start with a brew, a friendly workshop tour, and an all-important safety talk (complete with your own PPE). Then, it’s time to roll up your sleeves and get forging! With a maximum of just six participants, you’ll enjoy plenty of one-on-one attention from an expert instructor, ensuring you get all the guidance you need as you work with your very own gas forge and hand tools.
By the end of the day, you’ll have crafted a poker, which you can leave pointed for an open fire or bend over to suit a log stove. You’ll also make a hook, both lasting items that will be a true conversation starter when they’re put to use at home. Throughout the experience, you’ll be introduced to different techniques like freehand forming on the anvil, using jigs in the vice, and mastering a variety of hand tools. As this is a full day blacksmith experience, you’ll be treated to a hearty lunch to keep you fuelled for all the forging ahead.Â

Ages 15 to 17 must be accompanied by an adult who also has a valid voucher for the experience.
As the parent you will have the choice to focus 100% on your child throughout the day for safety reasons or you can work on a work station next to them and balance participating in the day and supervising your child. You will both be provided with PPE, a lengthy safety talk on the risk of burns and my attention throughout the day. Your presence is required to add an additional level of safety and supervision for your child and aid them in completing tasks along with the group.Â

The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.
