This Historical Walking Tour is a lively, story-filled adventure through the hidden corners of the Edinburgh, led by a charismatic character guide who knows exactly how to keep things entertaining. From the moment you set off, you’ll uncover a side of Edinburgh that many visitors completely miss.
Wander through secret closes, tucked-away courtyards and atmospheric gardens as the city’s past unfolds around you. You’ll hear tales of Mary, Queen of Scots, poetry and passion linked to Robert Burns, and literary legends including J. K. Rowling and Arthur Conan Doyle. There are even stops at famous Outlander filming locations along the way.
But this experience doesn’t just feed your curiosity, it feeds you too! During a cosy stop at MacKays on the Mile, you’ll enjoy a traditional ‘wee taste’ of Scotland. Tuck into a tower of classic haggis, neeps and tatties, paired perfectly with a warming dram of The Glenlivet. It’s authentic and a lovely chance to sit back and soak up the atmosphere.
And for those with a sweet tooth, there’s more to come. A visit to The Fudge House on the historic Canongate includes a sample of handmade Scottish fudge and melt-in-the-mouth tablet. You can even peek behind the scenes to see how the fudge is made.
Whether it’s for a birthday, Christmas, a couple’s city break, this tour is packed with personality. It combines history, storytelling and delicious Scottish treats into one charming day out.
